A couple years ago on my way home from work I found my apartment building completely enclosed by throngs of people and hay bales and crazy spandexed dudes on bikes zipping down Broadway the wrong way on that hill from Jefferson to Madison. It was the Twilight Criterium.
Last year I knew about the race ahead of time and managed to ensconce myself and some friends at arguably the best viewpoint inside the race route at the corner of Madison and Park.
We were looking forward to it this year, but alas, the race is moving to the North Park Blocks.
