Iron Chef meets Junkyard Wars in North Portland

Posted on 22 August 2007

SculptoffThe School & Community Reuse Action Project, aka SCRAP!, is hosting a sculpture competition this Saturday: The Iron Artist Sculptoff. In this competition:

ten teams of artists receive exactly the same materials and have three hours to build a sculpture based on a theme that is announced at the start of the event. Referees entertain the crowd while keeping the competition fair, and also give out merits and demerits accordingly. Local celebrities judge the final pieces and award the winning team the Cup du SCRAP . . . and the title of Iron Artist Champion.

There will be a beer garden, tea, and food. It runs from 12:30pm to 8pm in the lot on the corner of North Vancouver and Failing. Admission is $5 to $20 (sliding scale), and kids under 12 get in free (with adults).
