Timbers reach semifinals, get written about – Part 2

Posted on 19 September 2007

TimbersOnce again, a pretty move writes about the Timbers like I would if I could actually write:

a pretty moveI can’t help falling in love with you

I want to watch the feel-good Hollywood movie about this improbably brilliant season, the season that should never have happened and should not be happening still, not in the wake of finishing in last place the season before, spirits broken, a coach out of touch with players and fans, and ongoing acrimony between supporters, Timbers front office, and security that culminated in the ousting of eight loyal longtime fans following their doomed pyrotechnic protest*.

And despite being a Dizzy Dan and Silverbacks supporter, Longshoe at Who Ate All the Cupcakes says nice things about our Timbers again:

Who Ate All the CupcakesUSL Playoffs, Take 2: The Semifinal Round

As much as I want to pick the Red & Black here, I just think Portland is too good this year. I think the top defense will beat the top offense. The Silverbacks have to do the same thing as Puerto Rico, take a big lead across the country and try to hold it, except they have a more difficult task against Josh Wicks, Scot Thompson, Cameron Knowles and the top defensive team in the league.
