A Portlander in Elko observes Basque dancing

Posted on 15 July 2008

My brother Steve grew up and spent most of his life in Portland before moving to Elko, Nevada a few years ago. He and his family are enjoying their new home town, and Steve is blogging about it on one of my subdomains:

Elko.DaveKnows.org

Recently he and the family took in the 45th annual National Basque Festival. The festival takes place over the 4th of July weekend. He blogged about it and filmed some of the proceedings. Steve is funnier than I am. Watch and enjoy!

The awesome musical choice is Planet Rock by Afrika Bambaataa & the Soulsonic Force.

Your blog is my “lifeline” to Portland. I get to read about all the fun things going on there while I stare out the window at the tumbleweed rolling through Elko. *sigh*

You can always move back to Portland! ;-)

But hey, Elko looks like fun. Basques dancing to Afrika Bambaataa and the Soulsonic Force is pretty fricken cool and I’ve never seen it happen in Portland.
