It’s not really a holiday, but 29 years ago today Mount Saint Helens blew its top, and has occasionally let off a little steam ever since.

I think you should petition for a national statutory holiday to commemorate this. The holiday should include some special volcanic micro-brew and and a volcano-wurst and a long weekend off.
