I am proud to announce that Portland Poutine has published it’s first poutine review (by yours truly!). Heather and I made a special trip to The Original: A Dinerant two weekends ago to try the poutine, and we were not disappointed. Here’s an excerpt from the review:
We arrived on a lazy Sunday afternoon to take advantage of the Original’s every day happy hour (3pm-6pm, until 8pm at the bar). Four bucks for a platter of poutine is a great deal! It was such a great deal we also ordered the scotch egg with mustard, and the pigs in a blanket made with a kobe beef frank and served with cheddar fondue(!).

Whoah, a girl goes across the country for a week and comes back to a redesigned site! Lookin good, Dave!
Thanks devlyn! I’ve been working on it for a while. I’m not entirely happy with every part of this theme, but I’m bending it to my will!
Poutine! YES!!
They make hot dogs out of kobe beef? How much would those be, I wonder? Because four bucks for poutine sounds like a lot, especially since I don’t even see any cheese on it.
XUP – The cheese is in there, at the bottom mostly in one big clump. That’s my only real criticism of it. I thought the price was reasonable – there’s not nearly the critical mass of poutine choices here as in Canada; we have less than 1/2 a dozen places to get it!
The kobe beef pig in a blanket happy our price was $5. They also have a $3 happy hour dog special that changes each day.
The Original is a nice-ish place – it’s connected to a hotel, and is downtown.
