Happy Australia Day!

Posted on 26 January 2010

We had a fantastic Pie Day this past weekend. Heather’s pork pie took first place in the savory category at a Pie & Pints party. And for dinner tonight we plan to enjoy the second pie from the award winning batch.

Pacific PieThis is a round about way of saying that we’ve had plenty of pie lately, so we won’t be stopping by Portland’s Pacific Pie Company (609 SE Ankeny) today to celebrate Australia Day. But if we had room we would definitely be checking it out – Aussie! Aussie! Aussie!, Oi! Oi! Oi!

Pacific Pie Company specializes in handmade, Australian style savory pies, pasties and other Aussie treats, so it’s only natural they want to share pies (and Anzac biscuits and beer!) with us on Australia’s 4 of July (sort of).

From the newsletter:

On Tuesday, January 26 we’ll be celebrating Australia Day at the shop! We’ll be open from 10am – 9pm, and there will be specials throughout the day, including…

The debut of our Potato Pie – a beef pie topped with homemade mashed potatoes
Free Anzac biscuits
Free tastings of Laurelwood beer

Bring your friends + family for lunch or dinner! We’re also serving up the tasty new Pulled Pork Pastie – homemade with Sweet Briar Farms pork and served with a side of spicy coleslaw.

You can find more information on Pacific Pie’s website and twitter feed.
