Written by Portlanders Kelly Roy and Kelly Rodgers, with help from Food Cart Portland‘s dieselboi (aka Brett Burmeister), Paul Gerald from Breakfast in Bridgetown, Carol Mayer Reed and Michael Reed of Mayer/Reed, and photographer Andrew Burdick, the book explores the history of the Portland foodcart phenomenon, the stories of the people who run and patronize the carts, and of course the food!
Mr. Stepvan, the 1972 chevy step van bookmobile, from which the authors will be selling the book during the holidays, will be at the event. Food Cart Bike Tour participants will be making their final stop at the celebration, and will reach receive a $5 discount on purchase of the book. In addition, works by the book’s photographer, Andrew Burdick, will be on display. Prints and postcards with images from the book, and of course the book itself, will be available for purchase.
The release party is free and open to the public, and goes from 6pm until 10pm. The party features food, drink, music and tarot card (?!) readings.
