Spring is here, so here come the festivals – and the Timbers!
Tulip Fest 2012 at the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm in Woodburn kicks off Friday, March 30 and runs through Monday, April 30.
What, exactly, is a tulip fest? On weekdays it’s 40 acres of blooming tulips (and daffodils), a cafe, country store, farm equipment on display, Dutch sausages, and a gift shop. And on weekends you get all that, plus pony rides, a crafters market, Mexican food, wooden shoe making demonstrations, steam tractors, entertainment, and beer and wine! [more]
The 8th Annual Faux Film Festival takes place March 30 through April 1 2012 at the Clinton Street Theater (2522 SE Clinton).
But what the hell is a faux film festival?
It’s a festival of mockumentaries, fake commercials, fake public service announcements, fake film trailers, fake training videos, fake travelogues, etc. – you get the idea. [more]

The Timbers, struggling again this year to play consistently on the road, are coming off their first loss of the season last week at lowly New England. Real Salt Lake lost to Chivas, at home, last weekend. Both clubs want to return to form this Saturday. [more]
The 2012 Trillium Festival, brought to you by the Friends of Tryon Creek, takes place Saturday and Sunday, March 31 and April 1, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.
“The festival is a great opportunity to introduce the park to new audiences and for visitors to learn more about the importance of using native plants in your garden and make a direct connection to nature with others who share those values.” [more]
The Crafty Underdog, a different kind of craft show, is throwing a special Fool’s Day Show this Sunday, April 1, 2012 at the Mission Theater (1624 NW Glisan).
This free all ages show features beer and coffee, and live music by Chooch and Bash, Tim Bartlett, Power of County, and Wildwoods.[more]
