The world of wine, as I think we all know, contains a lot of snobbery, con games, and hogwash. But, there are also a lot of delicious wines.

There’s nothing we can do about the cold weather, but the effects can be ameliorated.

Winter’s official start is still weeks away, but already we are being reminded that sunny is not the same as warm.

The approaching weekend took me by surprise. There are as many worthwhile events as on some of the busiest summer weekends.

On December 5th, 1933 the Federal prohibitionary laws were repealed when three quarters of the states ratified the 21st Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America.

(Almost) every Wednesday the Hotel Vintage Plaza (422 SW Broadway) hosts a Wine Wednesday wine tasting. A winery representative conducts the tasting and gives a wine education presentation. Appetizers are often provided, usually by the adjacent Pazzo Ristorante.

Season’s Eatings, a local artisans food, wine and spirits market, takes place Saturday, December 5th from noon to 5pm at the New Deal Distillery and Tasting Room (1311 SE 9th).

There’s more to Turkey Day than just Turkey.
