An epic, hot summer weekend’s activities include a bike race, a crawfish festival, India festival, Hawthorne Street Fair and Sunday Parkways, Soapbox Derby, and the Central Library Block Party

Did you know that Oregon is the second largest commercial producer of crawfish in the country (with 10%), after Louisiana (90%)? I didn’t know either, but that’s impressive, eh?

The brew fest that features beers from the region’s smaller breweries.

A trip to Woodburn this weekend will reward you with authentic Mexican food, salsa dancing, fútbol, y más!

The 2010 Portland Highland Games take place Saturday, July 17th at Mt. Hood Community College – time once again for the the kilted mile, pipe bands, and of course the MacTarnahan’s Memorial Challenge Caber Toss!

After a morning trip to another of our favorite places, Bob’s Red Mill, we jumped into the Saabaru and pointed ourselves South. Heather appeared skeptical of the Happiest Place off of I-5 in Oregon, but I believe the trip turned her into a fan.

Of course the first rule of cooling down is drink cold, cold beer. I’ve got some other ideas too though!

For the second year in a row Heather and I descended upon Astoria, Oregon for the Scandinavian Midsummer Festival.

It’s quite a weekend in Portland. And Astoria too!
