Tickets go on sale today at 10am. Opening day is January 12th.

The Portland LumberJax have announced that all individual game tickets for the 2008 season will go on sale starting Tuesday, December 18 at 10 a.m.

The Jax should be much better this year than last. In the off season they picked up Dangerous Dan Dawson, who last year was third in the NLL in goals and tied for second in assists.

A couple weeks ago I posted about the 2008 season’s resurrection. Rick from Beerdrinker.org posted a salient comment:

any tips for which game someone new to the sport…solid rivalries or whatnot?

Who are our rivals?

Which teams, players, or coaches do real LumberJax fans hate?

After a few tough games, coupled with the playoff loss to them in 2006, I would nominate the Arizona Sting as our biggest division rival. But alas, they have ceased operations in 2008 (but with plans to return in 2009). Who should we shower with hate this season?

According to this report on the National Lacrosse League website the league has reached a Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Professional Lacrosse Player’s Association.

The agreement also means that professional indoor lacrosse will be played in 2008. When a new CBA had not reached by the league’s deadline last week, the 2008 season was canceled. A new schedule for the 2008 National Lacrosse League season is expected to be announced next week.

The bad news is that the Lumberjax season is canceled . . .

The good news is that Dallas now has more time to spend with Daria and his little dogs.

Midnight Monday was the deadline for contract negotiations between the Professional Lacrosse Players’ Association and the National Lacrosse League. Tuesday morning there is no agreement on the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Reports are that the league is keeping their promise [i.e. threat] to cancel the 2008 season.

Lumberjax keep marrying, also draft 6 players

With the sixth pick in the 2007 National Lacrosse League (NLL) Entry Draft the Portland Lumberjax selected transition player Tyler Codron. They picked five other players this weekend in Denver including another Brodie (Brodie Barfoot).

In other Lumberjax news, the Jax dance team tryouts are set for next weekend. Just so you know, “girls trying out are required to wear a form fitting top, form fitting shorts/dance pants, athletic shoes or dance shoes as well as professional looking hair and makeup.”

But the real Jax news this summer is that owner Angela Batinovich married transition player Adam Bysouth, and that goalie, franchise player, and NLL Legend Dallas Eliuk is engaged to local radio celebrity Daria. These damn Canadian lacrosse players keep marrying the most eligible women in Portland. What is their secret?
