The 6th annual North American Organic Brewers Festival takes place this Friday through Sunday, June 25th through 27th, at Overlook Park (Yellow Line will take you right there!).
This is my favorite summer brewers festival. It does not (yet . . .) get nearly as crowded as the Big One, and it’s not as expensive as the Pearl One. And so far (this will be the 6th NAOBF) the crowds aren’t nearly as obnoxious.
As per usual, a quarter of the beer list consists of IPAs, but there are plenty of other styles represented, including several nice summery wheat and fruit beers, some lagers, a few stouts and porters, and even a few ciders. I’m especially looking forward to Upright Brewings Rose City Seven, a barrel aged saison with flowers, and Kona Brewing‘s Oceanic Organic, a Belgian style saison. Ambacht Brewing, out of Hillsboro, is bringing two intriguing sounding beers: Ambacht Golden Rye Ale, a Belgian RyePA, and Ambacht Black Gold Porter, Belgique Porter. (Visit the NAOBF website for the full list of beers for the 2010 festival).
Admission is free, but the required taster cup is $6 ($5 with validated MAX ticket, ticket from the bike corral, or three cans of food to be donated to the Oregon Food Bank). Sample tokens are $1. The festival is open from noon until 9pm on Friday and Saturday, noon until 5pm on Sunday.
