Old Lompoc Chowder Challenge logoNew Old Lompoc‘s fifth annual Chowder Challenge takes place Saturday, February 26, 2011 at the Fifth Quadrant (3901 N Williams).

From noon until 4pm a $10 admission fee secures you the opportunity to sample chowders (New England-style only!) prepared by a bunch of local chowder purveyors (Bridges Café, Cascade Brewing Barrel House, Coalition Brewing, Columbia River Brewing, East Burn, EAT: An Oyster Bar, Fifth Quadrant, The Fishwife, Green Dragon, Hopworks, Laurelwood, Macadam’s Bar & Grill, New Old Lompoc & Superdog) and then vote for your favorites. Contest categories include Most Authentic, Most Flavorful and Best with Beer. The People’s Choice Award winner, the contestant who garners the most votes, takes home the Chowder Cup.

Festivities include a raffle for restaurant gift certificates and Lompoc schwag, a beer garden, naturally, and live music by Twisted Whistle from 1pm until 4pm. Joe the Balloon Guy is back again this year, entertaining the kids in the Soda Garden from noon until 2pm
