Belmont Station’s Puckerfest, a Celebration of Sour Beers runs all week long, July 18 through 24, 2011.
Now in it’s fifth year, Puckerfest has grown to become one of the most popular little festivals in July. Appropriately sandwiched between the Portland International Beer Festival and the Oregon Brewer’s Fest, Puckerfest 5 is shaping up to be the best yet. Beer lovers can look forward to a rotating cast of 12-14 funky beers on tap daily, along with numerous “Meet the Brewer” nights where we bring brewers from around the region to the Biercafé to share their stories and some extra special beers.
Things kick off Monday with a Meet the Brewer with Dave Marliave from Flat Tail Brewing in Corvallis. He will be presenting three special beers: Corvaller Weisse – a blend of 2 Berliner weisse barrels, one fermented with a traditional Lactobicillus/Kolsch yeast blend, the other with 100% Brettanomyces. Aged on oak for over 4 months. K.S.A. (Kitchen Sink Ale) – a no boil, barrel fermented, brown rye with cacao nibs, gotu kola, and cherry juice, blended 6-1 with Saison de la Tail. And Flat Tail 1st Anniversary Ale – a mash hopped blonde, fermented in the barrel, blended, and re-oaked with French oak spirals.
Details can be found at Puckerfest.com, Belmont-Station.com, and on Twitter (follow @Puckerfest) throughout the week. Belmont Station’s Biercafé (4500 SE Stark) is open noon until 11pm each day during the festival (food menu is available 3pm-10pm).
