The Portland Farmers Market has traditionally gone on hiatus during the winter, but not in 2012! The market announced a Winter Market today, which will take place on Saturdays in January and February at Shemanski Park, located between SW Salmon and Main in the South Park Blocks. The PSU market closes on December 17, 2011 and reopens on March 17, 2012, so there will be two market-less weekends at either end of the Winter Market dates.
Large tents will be erected to keep out precipitation and a covered seating area will be available to shoppers.
“We’ll have plenty of wintry comfort food and artisan foods, as well as plenty of greens and produce thanks to our innovative farmers,” said Trudy Toliver, executive director of the Market.
Approximately 45 vendors will be on hand offering meat, fish, cheeses, baked good, pickled products, and more. The final vendor list will be announced in November.
