Pittock Mansion Holiday Season 2011

November 19, 2011 by Dave Leave a Comment

Pittock Mansion Ready for the HolidaysOnce again Portland’s historic Pittock Mansion is going all out for the holiday season. This year, from November 21 through January 2, the theme is Christmas Around The World.

Every year, starting more than 40 years ago, dozens of volunteer decorators, designers, and local organizations donate their time and talents to transform Pittock Mansion into a Christmas wonderland for approximately 17,000 delighted visitors during the holiday season. This year’s bedecking of the Mansion’s hallways, grand marble staircase, and 23 treasure-filled rooms will feature multi-cultural Christmas customs and traditions as we celebrate Christmas Around the World.

Visitors are invited to enjoy the special exhibit and decorations, including over two dozen Christmas trees. Musicians will be performing regularly in the Music Room, and of course there are plenty of shopping options in the Museum Store.

Admission is free for members, $9 for adults, $8 for seniors (65+), $6 for youth (ages 6 – 18), and free for children ages 5 and younger.

The holiday display stays up until January 2nd. The mansion is open every day from November 22 until January 2nd 2011, except for Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. Hours daily are 11am until 4pm.

Lots of people are enthusiastic about the holidays, so the Mansion can get pretty crazy. To help alleviate the crowding the park offers a free shuttle from December 17 through January 1. Park your car by PSU (or take the train or bus downtown) and head over to PSU Parking Garage #3 (entrance on SW 12th or 13 just south of Market Street).
