New Old Lompoc‘s sixth annual Chowder Challenge takes place Saturday, February 25, 2012 at the Fifth Quadrant (3901 N Williams) from noon until 4pm.
Admission to the competition is free, and attendees 12 and older can purchase sample trays for $10 to participate in the tasting. All proceeds will be donated to the Community Transitional School, which provides educational services to homeless and at-risk children.
This blind tasting competition features New England-style chowder entries from Cascade Brewing Barrel House, Columbia River Brewing, EAT: An Oyster Bar, Fifth Quadrant, Trebol, Salty’s, Rogue, Deschutes Brewery, El Gaucho, D’s Bar, Fifth Quadrant, and more. The top vote-getter will be named the People’s Choice Winner and will be awarded the Chowder Cup. Prizes will also be awarded to first two runners-up.
Festivities include a beer garden (naturally), live music, and raffles. Joe the Balloon Guy is back again this year, entertaining the kids in the soda garden.
