The 6th annual St Johns Bizarre kicks off Portland’s summer street fair season this Saturday, May 12, 2012.
From 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. downtown St. Johns is transformed into a bizarre bazaar. The St Johns Parade, in its 50th year, begins at noon. Following the parade the six block St Johns business district (Lombard between N. Leavitt and N. Baltimore) is closed to traffic and occupied by over 75 juried craft vendors, several stages, and lots of great food and activities. (Philadelphia and Leavitt will be closed from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.)
The music lineup this year includes The Corin Tucker Band, AU, Old Light, Grandparents, the Dusu Mali Band, and more (the full music schedule is on the blog).
And of course there is beer! Occidental Brewing is sponsoring this year’s “Ye Olde Der Bier Garten”, which will feature not only their own beers, but also brews from Ninkasi, Lompoc, and Laurelwood breweries.
The Bizarre is free and fun for all ages. For additional event details visit www.stjohnsbizarre.com, the Facebook page, and follow @StJohnsBizarre on Twitter.
