The 2012 Rose Festival Milk Carton Boat Race takes place Sunday, June 10 at the Westmoreland Park casting pond – festivities kickoff at 11 a.m.!
My favorite Rose Festival event, I have not missed a race since the 2009 revival, and I won’t miss the 2012 race either!
For first time participants or spectators, I recommend checking out my reviews of the 2009 and 2010 races. My only complaints about the races are that too few participants build their boats out of actual milk cartons – most use milk jugs – and there’s no beer garden. Spectators have been treated to free ice cream floats and chocolate milk the last three years!
If you want to compete, registration is open until June 8!
Pro-tip: Bring a blanket or lawn chairs, a picnic lunch, and enjoy the spectacle.
