The Woodwork, a new portal to all things Portland Timbers, the team, its players, the matches and everything else, has launched.
Announced Saturday on the SoccerCityUSA.com Message Board, the site, though in its infancy, looks promising. The initial plan is three regular columns, each with a few contributors.
The Sorbet will be critique and commentary. Consider it the editorial page. Ground Level will be focused on the matches themselves. Wooddork is for the lighter side of the sport.
The first column to appear at The Woodwork falls in the Sorbet category. It is penned by none other than Bob Kellett, long time Timbers raconteur. If you’ve been paying attention at all the past 10 years, you’ve come across his erudite and witty commentary. He used to write for the OregonLive Timbers blog (now in the capable hands of Kip Kesgard), more recently he manned the Timbers Offside Blog, and his occasional SoccerCityUSA.com Message Board missives have been educating and entertaining the Timbers faithful for years.
The site is the brainchild of another long time Timbers fan, Bruce Eaton. In addition to Bob and Bruce, expect passages from Dave Hoyt, Laurie Jane, Lucas Grzybowski, Ralph Chilton and others.
