The 60th Tualatin Crawfish Festival takes place this Friday and Saturday, August 13 and 14, 2010.
Did you know that Oregon is the second largest commercial producer of crawfish in the country (with 10%), after Louisiana (90%)? I didn’t know either, but that’s impressive, eh?
Tualatin’s first Crawfish Festival took place in 1951, to honor the new VFW Hall and to take advantage of a bumper crop of crawdads in the Tualatin River. It’s been going strong ever since (barring the 1977 Tualatin Crawfish Festival riot, which almost got the festival cancelled).
Some of the crawfishy activities in store for you:
- Friday Night Cook-Off
- Great Music and Performers
