OMSI After DarkBurn, Baby, Burn: OMSI Gets Fired Up! is the theme of this month’s OMSI After Dark, on Wednesday, June 27, 2012.

[W]e’re all fired up with this month’s event theme, fire and water. Flaming balloons, great balls of fire, vanishing water, tornadoes of fire and more. Don’t try this at home!

Yup, it’s time for another child-free night at OMSI, and there’s alcohol!

The OMSI After Dark Summer Concert Series also debuts Wednesday, with performances by Radiation City, and The Robinsons & The Psychedelic Family Band.

Visit the OMSI Cafe for special menu items, and Altengartz Bratwurst will be out front from 9:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Bring cash (only!) for the beer and wine and cocktails at the bars set up throughout the museum.

Featured science demonstrations and activities include Flaming Baloons, Freezer Burn, and Tornado of Fire. Coffee, spirits, chocolate, and beer vendors will be on hand.

North American Organic Brewers Festival 2012

June 25, 2012 by Dave Leave a Comment

North American Organic Brewers FestivalThe 2012 North American Organic Brewer Festival takes place Friday through Sunday, June 29, 30 and July 1 at North Portland’s beautiful Overlook Park.

One of my two favorite Portland beer festivals (the Fruit Beer Festival has quickly become my other favorite), celebrates its 8th year with over 60 organic beers and ciders, live music, organic foods, vendors, and even activities for the kids. The beer selection looks fantastic!

Take the Yellow Line MAX to the fest – get off at the Overlook Park station (festival organizers encourage bicycling too, but drunk bicycling is dumb).

Admission is free, but the required taster cup is $6 ($5 with validated MAX ticket, ticket from the bike corral, or three cans of food to be donated to the Oregon Food Bank). Sample tokens are $1. The festival opens at noon all three days and runs until 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 5 p.m. on Sunday. Sorry, not pets!
