Mississippi Ave Street Fair 2012

Mississippi Avenue Street Fair 2012The 11th annual Mississippi Avenue Street Fair takes place Saturday, July 14, 2012 from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Mississippi Avenue from Skidmore to Fremont.

The annual Mississippi Ave. Street Fair is a community-building event that celebrates the neighbors, businesses and organizations that make their home in the Mississippi Avenue neighborhood. The event honors history and tradition while embracing diversity and sustainability.

The event is brought to you by the Historic Mississippi Ave Business Association (HMBA) & the Boise Neighborhood Association (BNA). A portion of the proceeds goes to Boise-Eliot Elementary and the Boise Business Youth Unity Project.

There’s a Craft Beer Garden, food carts, and other great restaurants.

Five stages feature dozens of bands throughout the day.

And of course over 100 local vendors will be on hand offering their wares, causes, and notions.

Dave Knows on Semi-Hiatus

Update: They’re Here!

Holy crap, twins! (drawing by Heather at Mile73.com)As many readers know, my wife Heather and I are expecting twins – any day now . . .

In anticipation of this life-changing event, I’m spending less time on Dave Knows Portland (and TriMet Diaries and Portland Poutine), and when the boys are born I probably won’t have a chance to spend quality time on the blog for several weeks to months. In the days or weeks from now until the boys arrive instead of blogging I’m going to be spending my spare time reading books on parenting and child-development, cleaning the house, and helping Heather with anything she needs help with (her belly is huuuge!).

However, I am calling this break a semi-hiatus because I still anticipate posts a couple times a week – in particular I’m going to attempt to produce a weekend events and amusements post once a week at least. There will be moments when both boys will be contentedly sleeping, right?

Thank you for reading and don’t wander too far – by Fall I expect the posting schedule will return to normal here!
