Portland To Canon Beach By Bicycle, July 2010 from goddestroyer on Vimeo.

Ahhh, remember July? Shawn Kilmer does. He road his bicycle from Portland to Cannon Beach.

And he made a video of the adventure: Portland To Canon Beach By Bicycle, July 2010 [sic]

At least a year of wanting to make the ride from the Willamette Valley to the Oregon coast by bicycle, finally decided I had the time. The ONLY drawback was not having a saddlebag rack setup and carrying everything on my back. I tried to go as minimal as I could, jersey for sun, thermal for normal weather, sweater for cold, bike shorts, jean shorts (for chillin’), sleeping bag, food, sunglasses. Just that small amount of stuff was still borderline on being too much weight to have on your back for a ride like this.

Mike Vogel zip-ties his Flip camera to the front of his car and heads to Sandy, Oregon.

I also stopped at Joe’s Donuts and ate a maple bar. That part of the video was not sped up. Also, there is a dog pooping on the side of the road, so I stopped the video so you could see that.

The Novembeard is looking good Mike!

A Portlander Brews in Shanghai

Michael Jordan, a man from Spokane, not the basketball player, lived in Portland and worked for the new defunct Nor’Wester Brewing Company. In an interview with SmartShanghai.com, he explains:

In 1995 I had part time classes in university and began working in a microbrewery in Portland called Nor’Wester Brewing Company. I began in the packaging (bottling) department and eventually was trained to do everything in the brewery. That was the start of my brewing career and I have enjoyed it enough to make it my lifelong profession.

Before accepting a position at Boxing Cat Brewery in Shanghai, Michael Jordan had been brewing in Denmark the last two years. According to his LinkedIn profile he also brewed at Widmer Brothers Brewing in Portland, and Grand Teton and Coeur d’Alene Brewing in Idaho. The job opening in China struck him as a unique and exciting opportunity.
