Timbers Army Season Opener Show (10-March-2012)

The 6th annual Timbers Army Season Opener Show takes place this Saturday, March 10, 2012 at the Tonic Lounge (3100 NE Sandy), two nights before the home opener!

The 2012 Season is upon us!! We celebrate the beginning of this years debauchery with the great punk sounds from:

This year we are overjoyed to be at the Tonic Lounge because not only do they have great beer and spirits, a brand new menu that is out of this world, they also have a lounge in the front to occasionally escape the decibels!

Admission is a mere $5, all proceeds of which go to Timbers Army tifo!

Portland Premiere: El Clásico – More Than A Game (10-March-2012)

The Portland premiere of El Clásico: More Than a Game, a documentary film about Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, Spanish history, culture, identity and soccer, takes place this Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 5th Avenue Cinema (510 SW Hall).

In April 2010 nine CSU, Chico students spent two weeks in Barcelona and Madrid on a soccer adventure. They had the opportunity to interview world-famous soccer stars Cristiano Ronaldo Thierry Henry, Iker Casillas as well renowned journalists, politicians and historians. They attended two major games, one of which was the El Clásico, the titanic battle between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona. This game is one of the most famous and widely watched sporting events in the world. Throughout the process the students learned that this monumental rivalry is not just a game of soccer but a way of understanding the very complex culture, history, and regional identity of Spain.

The film project was initiated and overseen by Chico State Alumni and film-maker Kelly Candaele and produced by another Chico State Alum, Cathy Growdon and co-produced by Celia Brugman.

Admission is a mere $5. Film begins at 7:30pm.

Timbers Army Third Saturday (18-February-2012)

It’s time once again for the Timbers Army 3rd Saturday celebration. February’s takes place this Saturday, February 18 20120 at an old favorite, the Leisure Public House (8002 N Lombard).

We ended 2011/12’s off season at North Portland’s favorite low key (not after us) pub The Leisure Public House!!!

The Leisure has long been one of our favorite haunts and we are very pleased to hold another event between their friendly walls. They feature local beers, hand squeezed cocktails (try the freshly grated ginger hot toddy), amazing food (build your own bruschetta!), and an amazing juke box (that I will dominate!). Really you have to love a bar that has a house cat.

Plus all of the bar stools have purse hooks, you know, for the ladies (and Talley).

Rose City Showdown IV (February 17-19, 2012)

The fourth annual Rose City Showdown takes place this weekend, February 17 through 19, 2012 at the Slingshot Lounge (5532 SE Center).

Rose City Showdown is a HERB style qualifying PAPA style finals tournament consisting of two divisions, an open division on 6 machines and a classics division on 4 machines. Top 16 from open will make the open finals and top 12 from classics will make the classics finals.

Tickets are $3 each or four for $10 and can be used for either division. All money collected will be paid back as prizes!

Friday competition hours are noon until 2am, Saturday noon until midnight. Sunday the classic finals begin at noon, followed by the open finals.
