Dave Knows Portland

Dave Knows turns 2!

June 27, 2009 by Dave Knows 9 Comments

daveknows1stpostDaveknows.org was born June 22, 2007. So as of last Monday, the blog is two years old!

I had completely forgotten about this most auspicious date, until reminded by the first birthday celebration going on over at OurPDX. It will probably take OurPDX’s anniversary posts each year from now on to remind me to tic off another year of Dave Knows Portland, so thanks OurPDX!
😉

Last year at this time I was averaging 4.9 posts per week. This year it’s up to 5.1, with 530 posts under my belt (as of 6/22 – actually with this post the tally is 536). I’m patting myself on the back right now.

Thanks for reading, commenting, and linking!

I suggest you get your tickets now.

You can get them online, but I always like just walking up to the PGE Park box office ticket window (20th and Morrison) – no friggin Ticketmaster fees! It’s open 10am to 5pm Monday through Saturday.

A Blazer fan reports from Elko, Nevada

October 9, 2008 by Dave Knows Leave a Comment

My brother Steve, a Portland native and lifelong Blazer fan, moved to Elko, Nevada a few years ago. But he’s still a Blazer fan. He blogged yesterday about Tuesday night’s preseason game against Sacramento, which he was fortunate to track down on Northern Nevada cable:

But the team we have now is HOT! Greg Oden is playing for the first time after micro-fracture surgery that kept him out last year and just looks like a monster, like a young Shaq. The rest of the team has matured over the last couple years, and Spanish rookie Rudy Fernandez is a baller. I watched the first preseason game last night and he had 5-6 completely SICK passes and alley-oops/dunks. That guy is going to be a star, mark my words.

A Portlander in Elko observes Basque dancing

My brother Steve grew up and spent most of his life in Portland before moving to Elko, Nevada a few years ago. He and his family are enjoying their new home town, and Steve is blogging about it and keepin’ it rural here:

Elko Steve

Recently he and the family took in the 45th annual National Basque Festival. The festival takes place over the 4th of July weekend. He blogged about it and filmed some of the proceedings. Steve is funnier than I am. Watch and enjoy!

The awesome musical choice is Planet Rock by Afrika Bambaataa & the Soulsonic Force.

A year ago today

A year ago today, with a post about Budvar finding its way to beer taps in Portland, this blog was born. 256 (4.9 per week!) posts later and I’m still here. Whew!

Thanks for reading and commenting and linking!

Note: the nifty Star Wars Scrolling thing that I had up here on Sunday is no more. Starwarscrawl.com was asked by LucasFilm to remove it from the interwebs 🙁
