Portland Beer Week is eleven days of fun, educational, eye and palate opening eating and drinking events in the greatest beer city on earth. More than just a beer festival, Portland Beer Week is a celebration of craft beer culture and all of its tangents from food pairings to beer ice cream, artwork and design, film and science.

Pedalpalooza 2016

Pedalpalooza is 3+ weeks of bikey fun. With 280 different events, most organized by individuals, bikers of all persuasions are likely to find many events of interest. Nearly all events are free.

Fruit Beer Fest 2016Portland Fruit Beer Festival

The world’s first dedicated fruit beer festival will return for it’s 6th year on June 10-12th, 2016. Due to overwhelming support and overcapacity crowds, organizers are excited to announce a new and larger venue for 2016’s festivities at the North Park Blocks in downtown Portland. The new grassy and tree lined location is only slightly more than a mile away from the original venue and just a straight shot west on Burnside Avenue.

The 6th annual Portland Fruit Beer Festival more breweries and cideries to the lineup with more national brewery presence without forgetting some of our favorite local makers. The expanded venue will also allow for more food options, more places to relax and more music and all-ages activities.

Portland Midsummer Scandinavian Festival

Portland Scandinavian Heritage FoundationScandinavians have a long tradition of celebrating the Summer Solstice with bonfires and the raising of the Maypole. Here in Portland, that tradition has been celebrated for 88 continuous years at the Portland Scandinavian Midsummer Festival.

Everyone is welcome at this summer solstice festival! As anyone who’s been there before knows, that it’s always a fun, family-friendly day filled with games, dancing, food, Nordic vendors and crafts and, of course, the raising of the Maypole.

Toffee-Club-Block-PartyWe will be closing SE 10th Avenue between Hawthorne and Clay on Saturday 11th June to celebrate the two big tournaments of the summer – England playing in the Euros at 12pm and USA playing in Copa at 4pm.

There will be multiple screens, street soccer, BBQ, DJs and loads more.

Portland Vegan Beer & Food Festival

Vegan Beer and Food FestivalVegan Beer and Food Festival features the best of the region’s craft beer, wine, ciders, kombucha, cold brew and craft sodas on draft. We curate the top vegan food carts, trucks, vendors and restaurants. Our “pop up” marketplace showcases vendors selling everything from clothing to ceramics to craft goods. And, of course, great live music from some of the best talent around.

The 14th annual Filmed by Bike film festival takes place this weekend, May 6-8, 2016, at the Hollywood Theatre (4122 NE Sandy Blvd).


Filmed by Bike features the world’s best bike movies.

Every May we host a gigantic film festival in our hometown of Portland, Oregon at the historic Hollywood Theatre. We award the best movies and curate inspiring bike movies collections.

Over the course of a busy weekend, we host a Street Party, filmmaker Q+A sessions, dance parties, Brewery Tour Bike Rides with the Filmmakers, workshops and awards ceremonies.

The festival kicks off Friday evening with a Street Party and the first films. Come back Saturday for more films and an award ceremony, and wrap things up on Sunday with more films, a brewery bike tour, and more. Visit the website for more details, and ticket options.

History Pub: Oregon on Two Wheels

Oregon on Two Wheels: The Story of Cycling in the Beaver State is the theme of the latest History Pub at the Kennedy School (5736 NE 33rd), on Monday, 25 April 2016.

April Streeter will present seven “unforgettable characters who have shaped Portland’s bike culture,” going back to the 1800s. A special panel discussion follows moderated by Michael Andersen, BikePortland News Editor, Rob Sadowsky, Bicycle Transportation Alliance Executive Director, and Mychal Tetteh, Community Cycling Center Chief Executive Officer. In their discussion they will explore the dynamic history and unique culture of cycling in Oregon.

History Pub is presented by McMenamins, Oregon Historical Society, the Oregon Cultural Trust, and the Holy Names Heritage Center. This event is free and open to all ages. Doors open at 6 PM, and the talk begins at 7 PM.

Portland Greek Festival

Greek Festival 2015After six decades, The Greek Festival has become one of the largest festivals of its kind, sharing our Greek Orthodox faith and rich culture with over 15,000 guests annually. The festival is an iconic event in the Portland Metropolitan area and has been designated as an Oregon Heritage Tradition by the Oregon Heritage Commission. Each year a portion of proceeds from the festival go toward worthy philanthropic endeavors in the greater Portland community.

H. P. Lovecraft Film Festival

"H. P. Lovecraft, June 1934" by Lucius B. TruesdellThe 20th annual H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival returns to Northeast Portland’s Hollywood Theatre (4122 NE Sandy) from Friday, October 2 through Sunday, October 4, 2015.

This festival of cosmic horror and unnameable fear features author readings, filmmaker discussions, a raffle, and of course lots of films – both shorts and features. The H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival is the only festival that understands. Don’t miss the Arkham Bazaar for Lovecraftian Novelties to Other Weird Oddities.

An Archives Month Celebration

Oregon Archives Month Celebration 2015Portland may be a foodie town, but it isn’t always food that feeds our hunger. If your head is hungry for some knowledge, let us fill it with Portland history! Do you have a craving to know where you can find maps of the city from the 1890s? Are you hankering to learn about the history of Portland’s Japantown? Do you have an appetite for local oral histories? Or does a sampling of strange, old medical tools interest you?

We have that and more waiting for you as we kick off Oregon Archives Month with a smorgasbord of Portland-area archives. Join us on Saturday, October 3rd from 11 AM to 3 PM at the Portland Archives and Records Center. Take a behind the scenes tour of the City’s archives and see history up close and personal.

Walktober

WalktoberWalktober 2015, the greatest walking holiday of the year takes place in Portland throughout October.

“Walk anywhere, everywhere, for any reason, or for no reason at all. This is Walktober: walking fun October 6th through Halloween (the greatest walking holiday of the year).”

Inspired by Pedalpalooza, three weeks of bikey fun in Portland held every June, the Oregon Walks conceived Walktober to promote walking as a fun, healthy, ubiquitous activity in the Portland metro region.
