November 15-16: Beer, Booze, and Cheese

Posted on 14 November 2008

This weekend celebrate the essential food group trifecta; beer, booze, and cheese!

Saturday

Hair of the Dog The Hair of the Dog 15th anniversary dock sale is this Saturday, 10am-4pm at the brewery (4509 SE 23rd Ave).

The Beer Here has the details:

Alan Sprints’ anniversary dock sales are true events in the Portland beer world and his 15th anniversary on Saturday should be a true party with tastings of some very special beers and the opportunity to buy cases of beer that won’t be available anywhere else…remember, though: just one case of Cherry Adam from the wood per customer…

After you’ve scored your stash of HOTD delights, head on down to New Deal Distillery (1311 S.E. 9th Ave) for their open house.

From 1pm-5pm Saturday, take a distillery tour, sample some spirits (be very careful if samples of the infamous Hot Monkey Vodka are offered!), and enjoy treats from Saint Cupcake and Meat Cheese Bread.

Sunday

Steve’s Cheese (2321 NW Thurman Street), home of the best selections of cheese in town, and also the best logo in the cheese mongering business, is hosting a third anniversary party. Pacific Northwest Cheese Project has all the details:

Steve’s Cheese in Portland will celebrate its third anniversary on Sunday November 16th from 12-5pm. Join Steve Jones, cheesemonger and proprietor, along with a supporting cast of cheesemakers, chocolate makers and food artisans for this annual cheese extravaganza and whoop it up in support of local cheese and artisan products. Libations will be served up by Square Deal Wines.

I always heard it wasn’t a good idea to drink beer with cheese?? Something about the fats solidifying with the cold beverages making it hard to digest?? Oh well, they’ve probably been doing it for decades and survived.
