Sour Fruit Fest

Cascade Brewing Barrel HouseCascade Brewing Barrel House‘s annual Sour Fruit Fest – featuring sour fruit beers – kicks off Wednesday, 24 February 2016 and runs through Sunday, 28 February.

Over 50 sour fruit beers will be available for tasting, at least four each day of the festival. The preliminary featured lineup: . . .

New Sellwood Bridge CelebrationNew Sellwood Bridge Opening Celebration

Multnomah County’s newest, old, bridge opens to auto traffic on March 1, 2016. Before that happens, come on out Saturday, 27 February 2016 from noon until 4 PM for the New Sellwood Bridge Opening Celebration.

“The community is invited to a celebration on the new bridge on Saturday, Feb. 27. The new bridge opens for the free, family-friendly event at noon. An opening ceremony and ribbon cutting will start the celebration around 1 p.m., followed by the “Through the Decades” parade. Attendees should enter the event at S.E. Tacoma St. and S.E. 6th Ave.

Food carts, retail and non-profit booths will be located on the bridge for the party. There will be entertainment on the main stage and along the bridge, and a few surprises. The first to arrive will receive a Sellwood Bridge lapel pin to commemorate the day.”

TOAST: The Original Artisan Spirits Tasting

TOAST 2016The 6th Annual Toast event is an opportunity to taste from a wide variety of over 120 spirits from across the Northwest, the Country and the Globe. Whether your spirit preference is Whiskey, Rum, Gin, Vodka, Tequila, Brandy, Liqueurs – or even unique spirits like Absinthe and Aquavit – the estimated 40 distillers and producers at TOAST will have it covered. TOAST allows small distillers and producers to showcase their handcrafted spirits, while providing an opportunity for the public to experience the diversity and quality of craft spirits from Oregon and beyond.

Bricks Cascade 2016: Public Exposition

BRICKS CASCADE 2016This event is open to the public and will be held February 27 & 28 between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM

Join us to see the artistic and ingenious marvels created by Adult Fan of Lego (AFoL) and very talented young builders from around the world.

Vendors will also be available with T-shirts, LEGO Minifigs, Custom made plastic elements and old/vintage LEGO sets.

Stumptown Stories: Happy Birthday, Oregon! (9 February 2016)

Oregon Birthday 1859Come on out to the Jack London bar (basement of the Rialto, SW 4th and Alder) on Tuesday, 9 February 2016 Happy Birthday, Oregon – presented by Stumptown Stories.

February 14th is Oregon’s birthday! And to celebrate, Stumptown Stories is bringing more historic tales of Portland’s past…with cake! It’s also the day after Lunar New Year begins, so Heather Arndt Anderson will be talking about the history of Chinese food in Portland. JB Fisher will be regaling us with tales of Jimmy Valentine and the notorious Brice child kidnapping attempt in the mid-1950s. A good time will be had by all! And much learniness!

Stumptown Stories, batshit crazy stories from the murkiest, weirdest, and nuttiest corners of Portland history, takes place the second Tuesday of every month at the Jack London.

Admission is free. Doors open at 7:00 PM, 21 and over only.

Lewis and ClarkLewis & Clark’s 210th Anniversary Extravaganza! – a special installment of the Stumptown Stories series, begins at 7 PM on Tuesday, November 10 at Jack London bar (basement of the Rialto, SW 4th and Alder).

Hey Portland! Get ready for a rip-roaring good time with our favorite adventurers, Lewis and Clark! Joe Streckert will regale us with tales of the Lewis & Clark Centennital Expo, and Finn JD John will delve in deep with the story of how the Expo brought us Portland’s favorite heavy metal laxatives!

McMenamins’ 30th Anniversary of the First Brew

McMenaminsOn October 25, 1985, McMenamins’ first beer was brewed in a small copper kettle at Hillsdale Brewery. It was a liquid malt extract brew, highly hopped for the era, brewed by the Hillsdale’s first brewer Ron Wolf and dubbed “Hillsdale Ale.” Falling loosely in the ‘Special Bitter’ classification of beer styles, Hillsdale Ale became McMenamins first bona-fide company standard beer, pre-dating Terminator, Hammerhead and Ruby.

Match Day: Portland Timbers vs. Colorado Rapids

Portland TimbersAfter an exhilarating two match 6 points road trip, the Timbers return to Providence Park to host the Colorado Rapids on Sunday, 25 October 2015 for an afternoon match.

Though tied on points with the 3rd place team in the West, the Timbers are not yet assured of a playoff spot – a win Sunday could seal the deal.

Walktober

WalktoberWalktober 2015, the greatest walking holiday of the year takes place in Portland throughout October.

“Walk anywhere, everywhere, for any reason, or for no reason at all. This is Walktober: walking fun October 6th through Halloween (the greatest walking holiday of the year).”

Inspired by Pedalpalooza, three weeks of bikey fun in Portland held every June, the Oregon Walks conceived Walktober to promote walking as a fun, healthy, ubiquitous activity in the Portland metro region.
