The 4th Annual Cheers to Belgian Beers takes place this Saturday, May 1st at Hopworks Urban Brewery‘s upper parking lot (2944 SE Powell). The fest starts at noon and goes until 9pm (so arrive early and then jump on the 9 bus to take you downtown in time for the 7pm Timbers vs. Puntarenas FC friendly!).
Every beer available during the fest will have been brewed with the Wyeast 3726 Farmhouse Ale yeast strain. Each brewery has been assigned (via dart toss!) color and strength characteristics to aim for, so some of the brewers will be out of their comfort zones. The beers will truly be experimental, and no doubt there will be some fantastic discoveries (and also possibly a few stinkers).
$5 gets you the tasting goblet (required to taste) and tastes are a buck each. Profits from this year’s event will be donated to Parkinson’s Resources of Oregon. The Oregon Brewers Guild has the full list of beers and more details.
Heather and I attended last year’s festival, at the NW Lucky Lab, and enjoyed some great beers and survived the Crazy Belgian Beers Storm of 2009!
