It pays to plan ahead: July 13-15

June 30, 2007 by Dave Leave a Comment

Friday, July 13th through Sunday, July 15th will be a weekend for the ages:

  1. Friday after work head to the North Park Blocks (gates open at 4pm) for the Portland International Beerfest.
  2. Get to PGE Park by 7pm for the Timbers match against the Victory. Party with Timber Jim and the Army post-game at the Bullpen patio.
  3. Wake up Saturday and head to the Mississippi Street Festival, which begins at 10am and runs until 7pm. Spend the day sipping blended margaritas, listening to various bands, and getting a sunburn.
  4. That evening head back to the Beerfest, if you have the energy/capacity.
  5. Get yourself a big breakfast (I recommend a Bloody Mary and a full order of biscuits and gravy at Kelly’s Olympian) . . .
  6. And get your ass back up to PGE Park by 6pm to watch the Timbers vanquish (in all likelihood) the Victory once again.

USL soccer may come to Victoria, B.C.

The Timbers might have a new regional rival as soon as next year.

More Cascadia teams would mean fewer ridiculous road trips for the team, and also more potential road trips for the fans; I, for one, will be the first one to sign up for the trip to Vancouver and Victoria to see the Timbers roll!

Miami FC Saturday night

TimbersThe Timbers prevailed Thursday night at the California [one] Victory [in 12 matches].

They play Miami FC Saturday at PGE Park where the $8.25 beers will be flowing.

But the real fun begins in July, which might as well be called Timbers Home Game Month, as we’ve got four of them (including two Thirsty Thursdays – $3.50, slightly smaller, beers flowing)!

It’s all on the calendar.
