The Timbers and Whitecaps played to a 0-0 draw Saturday night at PGE Park. The Timbers have not won a game in 6 tries, and the Whitecaps have set a franchise record for futility: 10 games without a win (which they then extended to 11 games Sunday night in a draw with Minnesota).
The Timbers have one regular season home game and five road games left in the regular season. Still in first place, they’ll need to start scoring goals to stay near the top of the standings.

On the bright side a Montreal/Rochester-esque 8,652 fans came out for the game. That’s over 8000 for the last two games, and no doubt the final Thirsty Thursday on the 23rd will find PGE Park (relatively) packed.

Usually I’m not the first two jump on the bad officiating bandwagon, but two non-calls were just inexcusable in the match.
The first was the blatant shoulder-charge on the breakaway in I think what was about the 12th minute. I hate it when they won’t make an obvious call when it occurs in the box.
The second was the ridiculous push in the back by Vancouver’s keeper. Roofing up and punching the ball out is fine, a blatant shove in the back isn’t. Again, in the box, ref ate his whistle.
I guess I can’t bitch about the goal taken away. Couldn’t really see that from 107.

Yeah, I haven’t seen a replay of the supposed handball by Jordan (or the red card given to the Whitecaps dude), but Taylor’s mugging in the box certainly looked like it deserved a PK, and a yellow card, to me.
