Practice your French and watch the The Portland Timbers take on the Montreal Impact at PGE Park this Thirsty Thursday at 7pm.
The Timbers beat the Vancouver Whitecaps 2-0 last Saturday, and then demolished the young Club America Reserves 4-1 Sunday in a friendly. The Mighty Mighty Timbers are unbeaten in the last 7 games, Montreal in the last 3. Something has got to give. I don’t think it’ll be the Timbers. The team’s offensive strategy this year actually results in goals.
Anarchists are selling books Saturday and Sunday, June 6 and 7 at Liberty Hall (311 N Ivy). The sale runs from 10am-6pm on Saturday, and 10am-4pm Sunday.
The Axiom Collective is hosting the first annual Portland Anarchist Book Fair. This two day event will feature over 20 booksellers, publishers, and zinesters offering a wide range of radical literature and art. There will be over a dozen workshops, cheap eats from the Red and Black Cafe, a rad raffle, and more!
A list of participating organizations and booksellers can be found on the Axiom Collective’s Myspace page.
And then Sunday, June 7th at 11am join the hoards descending upon the banks of Westmoreland Park‘s casting pond to witness the spectacle known as the Milk Carton Boat Race.
I’ve been looking forward to the return of this Rose Festival tradition for years, and it is finally here. See you Sunday!
And speaking of the Rose Festival, Saturday the Grand Floral Parade takes place, so if you’re out and about, be wary of traffic and closed streets. Also all weekend long the Dragon Boats are racing in the Willamette.
