Start the weekend off right at PGE Park Friday night – the Timbers host the Minnesota Thunder at 8pm. But then, after suitable recovery time, what will you do with the rest of your weekend?
Well for one thing, you can enjoy the beer and bbq and support Habitat for Humanity at the 2009 Oregon Brews and BBQs in McMinnville’s Granary District.
The festival runs from 3:00pm to 10:00pm on Friday June 19, 2009 and noon to 10pm on Saturday. Five bucks gets you in, and a souvenir tasting mug if you’re over 21. Beer samples cost dollar tokens.
Sunday Parkways are back, and this summer there will be three of them, in three different sections of town. The first is this Sunday, June 21st in North Portland.
Heather and I walked the entire 6 mile loop at last year’s inaugural Portland Sunday Parkway, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The parks connected by the car-free route host various activities, vendors, and entertainment. This year’s North Portland round consists of two loops, a 3.2-mile loop through Kenton and Arbor Lodge neighborhoods; and a 4.5-mile loop connecting Arbor Lodge and Piedmont neighborhoods via the Bryant Pedestrian Bridge and North Ainsworth.
The next two Sunday Parkways are July 19, in Northeast Portland, and August 16 in Southeast.
Pedalpalooza 2009 activities also continue throughout the weekend, including the Zoobomb Century Sunday at 10am.

Steve – Right on. I might be too, as I’ll be in Astoria. But I think it’s much more likely I’ll be in a pub in Astoria drinking beer while I receive text message updates from friends at the games 😉
