While I completely support the training of fire safety personnel, I have to wonder how this land came to be part of a mixed use development. I hope it was a simple noncoerced purchase of private land rather than an example of government abuse of “eminent domain” to force a landowner out of property for a more tax lucrative proposition.
Jim – I don’t think any condemnation occurred. I think overpaying occurred, as the houses (and a liquor store) were purchased before the housing boom went kaput!
