Ask Me (Almost) Anything

January 7, 2010 by Dave 4 Comments

I just signed up for formspring.me, a relatively new simple, service created by FormSpring that allows you to create anonymous question boxes, such as the one below, where anyone can ask me any questions, anonymously if you choose.

You can see my answers, if I deign to provide you with a response, on my profile page: formspring.me/daveknows

Gawker calls this new service The Sociopathic Crack Cocaine of Oversharing, but I’m not sure yet whether that’s a good analogy. (But it took me two years to figure out (sorta) Twitter, so don’t take my word for anything technology zeitgeist related.)

Ask away.

I first witnessed formspring.me on Tim Brown’s By The Beard of Zeus blog (his formspring.me page is here), and it looks like he’s having fun with it. I may or may not do as well with it. For one thing, I don’t have a beard, which seems to be the most popular topic for Tim’s questioners.

Have you noticed a significant increase in your readership since your advertising campaign gift?

Not really, but it’s probably too soon to tell. Surprisingly, Xmas day was my biggest traffic day of the year, but December in general is slow. I’m thinking I’ll have a better idea in a month or two, though Google Analytics can’t tell me who came to my site because of the bus ads.
