I’m not particularly fond of most of the Rose Festival experience. Okay, I’m downright cynical. In particular the mud, clowns, parades, and strident corporate sponsorships are major turnoffs for me.

That being said, some of the events can even draw me in. One of those takes place this Friday, May 28th at around 10pm: the Rose Festival Fireworks display. [more]

Timbers v BocaPortland Timbers vs. Boca Juniors

Multnomah County Fair 20102010 Multnomah County Fair

The 2010 Multnomah County Fair takes place this weekend, May 29th through 31st, at Oaks Park, noon until 7pm each day.

Seems like it might work against them to hold it the same weekend the Rose Festival Waterfront Village kicks off, but frankly, the County Fair looks like it might be more fun. [more]

Come Home TogetherHistory Pub screening of Come Together Home

Come Together Home, a film by Ivy Lin, will be screened Monday, May 31st at the Kennedy School Theater (5736 NE 33rd).

The screening is part of the History Pub series, and includes a presentation prior to the film, and a Q and A after. Admission is free, and program begins at 7pm. [more]
