Where in Portland Are You Watching the World Cup?

June 10, 2010 by Dave 3 Comments

The 2010 World Cup kicks off Friday, June 11th.

Though only a few bars in Portland can really be designated Soccer Bars, during the World Cup the list expands dramatically. Virtually all bars that have a TV will occasionally be tuned to world soccer this summer, and many bars, restaurants, and cafes that don’t normally sport TVs will roll in a big screen or mount an HD flat screen above the bar.

Below is a starter list of bars, restaurants, and cafes where you can catch World Cup Matches this summer, culled from the Portland Soccer Bars bar list. Please drop me a line, or leave a comment below if you know of other deserving establishments I should add to the list.

And any time you’re looking for a soccer bar, even in a non-World Cup year, visit Portland Soccer Bars to look up bars by name, quadrant or type of establishment.

For all the fine Williams/Vancouver St area denizens, bike commuters, and Soccer fans, MAUI’S BAR recently announced that they will be showing the USA v. England @11AM on 6/12!!! Come on out, they have 3 (maybe 4) big screens and lots of seating. They may be interested in opening earlier and for more games if there’s a good turn out, so spread the word!

Blackbird Wineshop (around 42nd and Fremont) is showing the games on a projector, daily. Call for game times – he usually opens around noon but will be changing that for World Cup. You can grab wine, beer, cheese plates, pressed sandwiches, etc. Kid-friendly, too — juices and snacks for kids.

You can search lokiloka for “world cup” to find a list of locally owned venues:
