Share your Knowledge and Love of the Timbers at PSU this Summer

June 15, 2010 by Dave 2 Comments

Professor Alon Raab, one of the editors of The Global Game: Writers on Soccer, will be teaching a class this summer, June 22nd to July 15th, at Portland State University about the History and Culture of Soccer:

From its roots in religious rituals among the Aztecs and the Chinese and up to its present global popularity, Football (Soccer) is the game most played, written about, watched and dreamed about, in the world. This class will examine the nature and history of the game and will look at its intersections with issues of class, gender, nationalism, and globalization.

And he is looking for guest speakers to come to the class to share their knowledge and love of the Portland Timbers and/or of the game in other lands.

If you’re interested, send me your contact information (to d a v e @ d a v e k n o w s . o r g) and I will pass it along to Professor Raab.

Nick – Yeah, I’d like to *take* that class. Alas, full time jobs and busy lives make that impossible.
