The Portland Timbers hope to latch onto the momentum they initiated with the 3-0 defeat of the Sonoma County Sol in US Open Cup play Tuesday night, as they host NSC Minnesota Stars at PGE Park this Thirsty Thursday, June 17th 2010. Kickoff is at 7pm.
The Stars (4-7-2) are a point ahead of the Timbers (3-4-4) in the standings, though they’ve played two more matches. And they have given up more goals, 19 in 13 matches, than any other team in the league. If the Timbers stop hitting the woodwork, we might just see a few goals Thursday night. Former Timber U23 player Warren Ukah suits up for the Stars, and has played in 9 games this season.
