The Portland Timbers were victorious in Puerto Rico on Saturday, stealing a win off a very pretty goal in stoppage time by late season signee and first-time starter Kalif Alhassan.
On the road until the playoffs, the Timbers face Crystal Palace Baltimore this Saturday, September 25. Watch the match live at a Portland Soccer Bar! And be forewarned – Kick off has been changed to 1:30pm (Pacific).
MLS Commissioner Don Garber is in town, and apparently he likes the vibe. He will be at a PGE Park renovations ground-breaking ceremony today, and is also a guest speaker at the Sports Executive Series at the Multnomah Athletic Club.
In supporter news, the work of Portland-based photographer and Timbers Army stalwart, Steven D. Lenhart, hangs in an exhibit of football fan culture photographs in Poland as the only example from North America. He talks with Prost Amerika about the honor.
On Friday, September 24 at 10am Portland Timbers 2010 USSF Division 2 playoff strips go on sale to the general public. (Priority purchase period for season ticket holder ends Thursday at 5pm!) The first match will be played at the beautiful Merlo Field.
