Join The Dill Pickle Club and the Portland Mercury‘s Sara Mirk on Tuesday, October 12 2010 at the Central Library (801 SW 10th), U.S. Bank Room, from 6:30-7:45pm as they talk about the Oregon History Comics project.
Board members of the Dill Pickle Club present a slide lecture on their “Forgotten Histories” programs, while Sarah discusses the process of researching, writing and working with 10 artists in illustrating under-acknowledged facets of Oregon history.
Two titles have been released: Lone Fir Cemetery and The Life and Death of the X-Ray Cafe (order your copies at The Dill Pickle Club website). A third title, Dead Freeways, will debut tonight at this event.
Future issues feature the following stories and artists: Vanport Flood – Nicole Georges, The Fall of Logging – BT Livermore, Portland’s Black Panthers – Khris Soden, Celilo Falls – Annie Murphy, Oregon Bike Building – Shawn Granton, Chinatown – Lisa Rosalie, Portland’s Bridges – Zack Davis.
