RADIUS from Pander Brothers on Vimeo.
Radius is a short film by the Pander Brothers that, according to the Vimeo page, was originally shot on 16mm, but has been remastered and given a soundtrack by Auditory Sculpture. It’s a very curious cold war era film (there are glimpses of the White Stag sign).
Conceived and filmed in the final years of the Cold War, RADIUS uses bold architectural abstraction to frame Portland’s Burnside Bridge as it opens and gives way to a lethal military vessel that passes through its gates. The location was chosen for its infamous designation as the city’s “ground zero”, which was believed to be the target site of a potential Soviet nuclear ballistic missile attack.
