Child of Steens Mountain: The Hard, Happy Life of an Eastern Oregon Rancher’s Daughter, this month’s History Pub event , takes place Monday, April 25, 2011 at the Kennedy School (5736 NE 33rd) at 7pm.
Eileen McVicker will describe the everyday adventures and rugged vistas that filled her childhood on her family’s sheep ranch during the Depression and War years living on Steens Mountain and the surrounding area in the High Desert of Oregon. McVicker’s present-day neighbor, the author and longtime school teacher Barbara Scot, will detail the process and adventures the pair shared in compiling McVicker’s memories into the 2008 book, Child of Steens Mountain.
Join event co-sponsors Oregon Historical Society and Holy Names Heritage Center at 7pm Monday for a beer and history!
Admission is free and this event is all ages. Please bring canned food donations for the Oregon Food Bank!
