Scandinavian Midsummer Festival
The 84th annual Portland Scandinavian Midsummer Festival takes place Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Oaks Park.
Scandinavians have a long tradition of celebrating the Summer Solstice with bonfires or raising of the Maypole (Majstång). Here in Portland that tradition is being celebrated for 84 continuous years at the Scandinavian Midsummer Festival. [more]
Oregon Voices: Change and Challenge in Modern Oregon History – Public Opening
OHS is opening its doors for free on Saturday, June 16. Explore the exhibit’s interactive areas with theatre instructor Morgan Cox. At 1 PM, listen to historian and author Bill Robbins’ talk, “Reflections on Modern Oregon.” After learning about Oregon’s natural resources, kids can decorate their own backpack and fill it with fun tools for exploring Oregon’s great outdoors!
