TimbersThe 2011 MLS Superdraft approaches, and there’s no shortage of speculation who Portland will choose with their second pick. Will it be Akron Zips star Perry Kitchen? Fellow Akron-ite Darlington Nagbe? How about 17 year old Omar Salgado? We’ll know on Thursday. Portland also has the 20th and 22nd pick.

Meanwhile the Kenny Cooper rumor looks like it has legitimacy. Technical director Gavin Wilkinson was quoted over the weekend in The Oregonian stating:

“We think Kenny is a great player and he would be a great fit for the Portland Timbers,” Wilkinson said. “There are a lot of hurdles that we have to overcome. At the moment it’s been difficult to try and work out something that works for both sides.”

The Timbers, it seems, might be making an appearance at a pre-season tournament in Arizona to face the Montreal Impact, LA Galaxy, and Sporting KC.
