Living The Life Portlandic

March 22, 2010 by Dave Knows 1 Comment

The Life PortlandicI am privileged this week to be a guest on The Life Portlandic on PDX.AM.

If you like this website, The Life Portlandic should be right up your alley; just read how the website describes it:

The Life Portlandic is about some of the good, cool, interesting and fun things about living in Portland, the state of Oregon and the Pacific Northwest. Each weekday, we dive into an optimistic look about what makes living here so special.

Tune in to PDX.AM at 9am on Wednesday and Thursday, March 24th and 25th to listen (or shortly after the broadcasts visit The Life Portlandic website or the iTunes page to download the podcasts). I’m venturing out to the Bull Mountain Studios Tuesday to sit down with host Doug Zanger to discuss the blog, La Vida Portlandic, and of course poutine!

Doug invites you to send any questions you’d like him to ask me to tlpdx@me.com or @Zanger on Twitter.

PDX.FM Founder Robert Wagner on Redoing Media

March 18, 2010 by Dave Knows 2 Comments

Redoing MediaBetsy Richter interviews Robert Wagner today on Redoing Media, the show that explores how all of us are becoming shape/time/media shifters instead of passive consumers of media.

While Mr. Wagner continues to protest his inclusion in this merry local media dance we’re playing here & does his best to play the ‘aw, shucks’ card when pressed, I very strongly beg to differ. The guy makes media — even though he doesn’t want that Oregonian article preserved in wood plaque form any time soon. He reports on news every morning on Portland Sucks (raise your hand if you’ve heard of an issue for the very first time while listening to Robert & Sabrina on Portland Sucks each morning at 8 am). He’s building out a whole infrastructure to support local Portland news, information & entertainment — that sounds like a media magnate to me, right? And he’s funding the whole thing out of his own pocket.

Betsy promises not to go easy on him. This should be a very interesting interview.

Redoing Media airs at 1pm Thursdays on PDX.FM, or listen to the podcast afterwards anytime.

30 Hour Drunk: Do You Have What it Takes?

March 16, 2010 by Dave Knows 3 Comments

30 Hour DrunkPDX.FM is now accepting applications for participants in the (destined to be legendary) 30 Hour Drunk.

Inspired by 30 Hour Day, Portland’s 30 hour live streaming telethon, 30 Hour Drunk is a 30 hour drinking marathon for 30 people, all of which will be broadcast live on PDX.FM and captured on HD video (no doubt for blackmail purposes).

I suspect more details will be forthcoming as the date approaches. But for now, if you think you can handle your drunk, be entertaining while drunk, and have a good time doing it PDX.FM wants you to fill out the candidate form to be considered. Tell them why they should select you. (Assholes and career alcoholics need not apply.)

Update:  The event starts Friday, June 11th at 6pm!

ZomboticaZombotica: Zombies vs. Robots takes place this Saturday, March 13th at Dante’s (1 SW 3rd).

It won’t be the end of the world. It will be better.

PDX.FM is behind this event, which promises to blow your mind and your circuits. Come dressed as a zombie or a robot. Tickets are $10, and the price treats you to an extravaganza: five bands, boxing matches, contests, a live broadcast, and costumes!

The boxing matches? That’s you in a bouncy boxing ring, and you may also get the opportunity to duke it out with the likes of Cort Webber of the Cort and Fatboy radio show and Emily Gibson of PDX.FM’s The Meat Show.

The show is a benefit for American Red Cross: attendees are encouraged to bring small items such as toothbrushes, crayons, markers, coloring books, travel-size umbrellas, water bottles, etc. – anything that can be given to people in need of disaster relief.
