Garrett Dittfurth, a board member for the 107ist of the Timbers Army, was not present during those heady NASL days. But he knows they were a good team — they produced three playoff seasons (1975, 1978 and 1981) and found themselves in the 1975 Soccer Bowl. Crowds reaching 20,000 per game were the norm, back in the day. [more]

Tuesday Timbers Tidbits (28-December-2010)

TimbersRyan Pore’s Sunflower Goal, a Dike hat-trick at Kitsap, and the 2010 Cascadia Cup Championship. Vote for your top 3 Timbers Moments of 2010 at Dropping Timber. Listen to Mao’s Football Show today, Tuesday December 28 at 4pm Cascadia.fm for the poll results.

In what may prove a shrewd move, Timbers coach John Spencer tipped off Nottingham Forest manager Billy Davies to the availability of Robbie Findley. At the Timbers Blog at The Offside, mao muses:

This space believes there will be a working relationship between the Timbers and Forest in regards to the 25-year old striker. If granted the aforementioned work permit, Findley would likely be unable to play with Forest until the new year and even then his lack of fitness, having sat idle since November, could keep him on the bench. But a summer loan back to the Timbers could easily be on the cards for Findley, particularly if Davies fancies his chances for a starting gig come the 2011/12 season.

The European mid-season transfer window is nigh. Dropping Timbers dishes on players percolating into Timbers rumors.
