For me, one of the true harbingers of spring is when every weekend boasts several events or festivals I want to attend. This is going to be one busy weekend . . .
First, on Thursday, join the rest of the Timbers Army at The Cheerful Bullpen (1730 SW Taylor) at 7:01pm.
This will be the last First Thursday meet-up before the season starts – Last Thursday, April 30th, is the Thirsty Thursday Timbers home opener!
Friday Hall of Records throws its second record sale and dance party.
The first one, back in February, was a success, so they’re doing it again. Like the last, this one will also be hosted by It’s a Beautiful Pizza (3342 SE Belmont). And once again DJ Standing 8 will be mixing while you enjoy a beer and dig for records (mainly soul, funk, jazz and breaks from the 60s and 70s). The party is true to the (eventual) store concept: blending records with beer – don’t forget to track Hall of Records’ progress towards this goal at their blog: The Creation of a Record Store.
And all weekend long, Friday through Sunday, the Hollywood Theatre (4122 NE Sandy) is hosting the 5th Annual Faux Film Festival.
What the hell is a faux film festival?
A festival of mockumentaries, fake commercials, fake public service announcements, fake film trailers, fake travelogues, etc. A full schedule is available in PDF format, and of course you should check out the website, which includes trailers for many of the films.
